Gucci’s Former London Headquarters Hits the Market as a £55 Million Megamansion

The palatial property where Tom Ford spent the height of his career is also available as a £40,000 per week rental

An enormous Neoclassical mansion that served as Gucci’s headquarters during Tom Ford’s heyday as the brand’s creative director has come back on the market as a private residence, asking £55 million (US$66.2 million). Located in the posh Mayfair section of London, the property is also available as a £40,000 per week rental.

“The former Gucci mansion, the brand’s global HQ, is now Mayfair’s finest house currently for sale or let,” said a statement from Gary Hersham, founding director of Beauchamp Estates, which is representing the listing. “It is here that Tom Ford and [former CEO] Domenico De Sole entertained Alexander McQueen, Anna Wintour and François Pinault.”

Built between 1769 and 1772, according to marketing materials, the 14,000-square-foot home was at one point the home of Lord Chancellor Lord Brougham, who hosted Queen Victoria and the first Duke of Wellington on the property, Mr. Hersham added.

The home went on to serve as the new London headquarters of Gucci between 1998 and 2010, and is now on the market for the first time since being extensively refurbished under the oversight of architects Donald Insall Associates, who also handled the restoration of Windsor Castle, according to a news release. The property is owned through a trust, according to representatives, and the sellers could not be identified.

The sprawling property features eight total bedrooms—four “VIP bedroom suites” and four staff bedrooms—as well as extensive entertaining spaces including an entrance hall and four reception rooms with classical design details such as elaborate molding, original Georgian fireplaces, 20-foot ceilings, parquet floors and high windows, per listing photos.

The state room that once hosted Queen Victoria was used as Mr. Ford’s office and creative space during Gucci’s tenure in the building, according to marketing materials.

Extensive modern amenities include an elevator, a gym, and a home theater as well as a full spa complex that boasts a swimming pool, a marble-lined plunge pool, a steam room and a sauna. The home also has numerous options for outdoor entertaining, with a garden terrace, multiple first floor balconies, and a “sun room/conservatory” on the upper level.

The fourth floor is designed with a “penthouse style” office and entertaining suite that adjoins the sun room, and once served as former Gucci CEO Dominco De Sole’s office, per the listing.

The property was listed on June 13, according to records.
